A MESSAGE FROM MURS

The last installment of Murs' Paid Dues video blogs. The show is this Saturday and we're all gonna be there. Are you? Get there early. Doors open at noon this year, and you don't wanna miss any of the artists from this year's lineup. You know I have to mention MC PROTOTYPE one more time before the show... from what I've heard, him and DJ Nickyboi go on at 1pm. If you've never been to one of Proto's shows before, you're definitely in for something special. See you on Saturday.

MAESTRO SPEAKS

Maestro Knows documents the everyday life of Levi Maestro. At a time when our generation is seen as a bunch of irresponsible 20-somethings, his show offers inspiration to anyone willing to watch and listen. He stands alongside his belief that you can do what you love, and still be successful.

"I do what I love and I don't let people tell me I can't do it."

MUSIC MONDAY

So Brother Ali, BK-One, and Fashawn are on tour now, and they just released the "theme song" of their tour, "Breakin' Dawn." The track was produced by Ali and BK. To me, the beat has a similar feel to the songs on BK's album, Radio Do Canibal, which features a fresh, hip-hop blend of traditional Brazilian music. Download the song here.

Straying away from the use of videos on this post, my good friend MC Prototype's new EP, The Ones Overlooked is now available in limited quantities at Radio Futura in Downtown Pomona, or from Proto himself. The EP's official release will be at Paid Dues this Saturday, April 3, and will also be available at other independent record stores. I highly recommend picking up a copy of this album. You can preview 3 tracks from the EP on his Myspace.

ETRNLST: CREATING MORE THAN A LEGACY

It's been a long time coming, and I'm proud to announce that I have started my own clothing brand, ETRNLST. Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am to start this. Even though I've only been working on ETRNLST since the middle of 2009, I've been planning to start my own skateboarding company since I was eleven years old. Be that as it may, my options will not be strictly limited to skateboarding clothing.

I appreciate all the help and support I've gotten over the past few months. More information and our debut Summer 2010 line will be up soon on the official site. For now, follow ETRNLST on Twitter(@ETRNLST) to keep up with any new developments and all news regarding the brand.

CREATING MORE THAN A LEGACY. WE ARE ETRNLST.

SUNDAY SKATE SESSIONS 3

Gino Iannucci - "Your favorite skater's favorite skater."

I was 9 years old when The End came out, and Willy Santos's part is still one of my all time favorite skate parts. Watching this brings back so many memories.

MUSIC MONDAY

The new Murs and 9th Wonder album, "ForNever," comes out April 13th. The first video off the release, "The Problem Is," features two legendary Los Angeles emcees, Murs and Sick Jacken, with the help of Uncle Chucc and, of course, 9th on the beat. You can catch Murs and 9th, as well as Sick Jacken and Psycho Realm at Paid Dues on April 3rd. Get your tickets soon, it's less than 2 weeks away! My boy Proto is gonna be there too! If you keep up with my blog, you would have already known that.

Another album to look out for is "Revolutions Per Minute" by Reflection Eternal. It's been 10 years since 'Tek and Kweli have released an album together, and from what I've heard so far, I might have this album on repeat for a while. It drops April 20th. Here's their new music video for the song "Strangers," featuring Underground King, Bun B.

SUNDAY SKATE SESSIONS 2

Had a really busy week, hence the lack of new posts. Almost forgot about Sunday Skate Sessions. Here it is...

I don't know much about Shuriken Shannon, but his part in Black Label's God Save the Label is amazing.

Corey Duffel has style. I don't care what anyone says. I've seen this guy skate a few times, and I've never seen anyone skate harder than him. Oh, and he was bleeding everytime too. Dedication.

SUNDAY SKATE SESSIONS

From now on, I'm going to post my favorite skate videos every Sunday. I'll do my best to keep my word.

I wore white button up dress shirts almost everyday freshman and sophomore year of high school because I wanted to be just like Reynolds. His raw style shaped and defined skateboarding for me growing up. In my opinion, his part in Baker 3 is flawless.

Arcade Fire + Skateboarding = PERFECT BLEND

Definitely one of my favorites. Again, great music (Band of Horses) and a solid skater. What more can I say? Guy Mariano's a beast.

DIY skate spots at its best.

THE HUNDREDS X SUPERMAX

Another new collaboration for 2010. Los Angeles based brand The Hundreds have teamed up with classic streetwear brand Supermax, releasing a collection graphic shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets in limited quantities at both THLA and THSF locations. At first I didn't know how I felt about this collaboration, but now I see that this is a great opportunity for Supermax to get the recognition they deserve. Without Supermax, Los Angeles and California culture wouldn't be what it is today. We owe it to these cats for laying it down for us. Much love and respect.

10.DEEP PUSHES WOOD

From clothing to mixtapes, and now skateboarding, you can never go wrong with 10.DEEP. Watch their latest video, "Up North Trip." Skateboarding is life. Enjoy.

RE-UP YOUR RE

It's been 10 years since Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek released their debut album, "Train of Thought." Reflection Eternal is back with a new album "Revolutions per Minute" and a new video. According to Hypetrak, the album is coming out April 20. Though I can't pick a favorite emcee, Kweli is definitely in my top 5.

NO DAYS OFF

For anyone living the daily grind of being dependent on a 9 to 5, this is the soundtrack of our lives. I'm changing that for myself really soon. Either way, there's nothing wrong with a little Kanye.
