RECAP: MISHKA ECHO PARK LUNCH TRUCK DAY

If you haven't eaten from an LA lunch truck, you don't know what you're missing. These mobile fusion restaurants are the future of street cuisine. A popular combination among many of these food trucks is blending traditional Mexican dishes with a variety of Asian ingredients. That's not it though. There are plenty more unique food trucks in business, which means, you have a really good chance of finding exactly what you want.

Mishka invited four popular Los Angeles-based food trucks to their Lunch Truck Day at Mishka's Echo Park location. Although it was a little hot, beautiful Southern California weather all day, and, of course, great food!

Coolhaus, Mandoline Grill, Frysmith, and Lomo Arigato parked out front the Mishka store on Echo Park Ave Sunday, ready to serve the hungry customers lined up on the sidewalk. I was excited to see Mandoline Grill again! They are definitely one of my favorites! Each of of these trucks serves up one-of-a-kind meals with prices that'll make your stomach AND wallet smile. Follow them all on Twitter to know where they'll be next.

Shout out to Greg and Andrew at Mishka. These guys are always holding it down. It's always good chilling with them. If you missed Lunch Truck Day this time around, come out to the next one. Your stomach will thank you.

Don't mess with Eric (Lomo Arigato) or he'll cut you!

Alife make great sneakers!
Coolhaus serves their ice cream sandwiches in an edible wrapper. See, now you can eat paper and not get in trouble for it!
Greg(far left) and Andrew(middle) finding some shade. Andrew enjoying some food from Lomo Arigato.
These dudes are from Virginia. They decided to pack up and fly to Cali just because. These guys are living right!
Look up next time you walk into Mishka in Echo Park.
Andrew approved of this shot.
I forgot the first dude's name(sorry), Greg, and Kevin. Not too sure why he's carrying that bottle of pesticide though.

WHERE IS DUMA?: NYC TOUR 2010 (PART 1)

This was my first time visiting New York. I don't think "excited" can even begin to describe how I felt when I got my ticket. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, but the bottom line is, NY exceeded all my expectations. NYC is without a doubt the greatest city I've ever been to. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked. This could be due to my camera acting up most of the time I was there...or I was just too busy living.

The flight was pretty smooth. I tried getting some reading done, but I was distracted by my lack of sleep and this Real Madrid - Getafe game, courtesy of Jetblue's personal Directv monitors.

To celebrate my first day in NY, my cousin and her roommate took me to their favorite neighborhood restaurant, Roberta's Pizza in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My first taste of NY pizza was not disappointing. I know the pizza I ordered looks way too healthy, but it tasted great!

My second night in NY was spent in the Lower East Side, at the Staple Design x Oakley 35th Anniversary release party at Reed Space. Ever since I got really into street culture, I've respected and admired everything Jeff Staple and his team have done. Staple's collaboration with Oakley is a great example of design brilliance and their ability to constantly produce quality products. Check Freshness Mag's full recap of the event.

Reed Space was PACKED and it was about 150 degrees inside. No joke.

While making my way out the door for some fresh air, I got a chance to meet and talk with the man himself, Jeff Staple.

Everybody loves free beer! Too bad I don't drink.

Oh, and I thought it couldn't get any better! One of my all-time favorite producers was DJ for the night. Just Blaze!

TROMPO!

I went to Raspado Xpress today, for the second time, after my good friend brought me here last week. This spot in Pomona is fresh! I got the Trompo (crushed ice, pineapple, guava, watermelon, and chamoy) again and we picked up some GreƱudo (sliced jicama, carrots, cucumbers, and beets covered in lemon, salt, and chili) too. Summer is almost here... time to step up your raspado game!
