RONNIE FIEG PRESENTS: "THE COVE"

Inspired by a trip to the Bahamas, Ronnie Fieg's new Gel Lyte III's beautifully represent the tropical serenity of the Caribbean. The shoe features an all blue upper with white accents and a grey midsole. As I mentioned in my post about Ronnie's Cultureshoq Gels, this guy definitely has an eye for design...and models!

Colombian model Soraya Yd laced up the new Gels for this shoot on a private beach in Aruba. All the shots were taken by none other than Fieg himself.

I can't wait to see more detailed product shots; I'm curious to see what materials were used (sneaker geek moment). No release info has been announced yet, but according to Ronnie's blog, more info is coming soon.

Oh, and if you know me, you know I've got a crazy infatuation with women with curly hair. Thank you, Ronnie!

RECAP: MISHKA ECHO PARK LUNCH TRUCK DAY

If you haven't eaten from an LA lunch truck, you don't know what you're missing. These mobile fusion restaurants are the future of street cuisine. A popular combination among many of these food trucks is blending traditional Mexican dishes with a variety of Asian ingredients. That's not it though. There are plenty more unique food trucks in business, which means, you have a really good chance of finding exactly what you want.

Mishka invited four popular Los Angeles-based food trucks to their Lunch Truck Day at Mishka's Echo Park location. Although it was a little hot, beautiful Southern California weather all day, and, of course, great food!

Coolhaus, Mandoline Grill, Frysmith, and Lomo Arigato parked out front the Mishka store on Echo Park Ave Sunday, ready to serve the hungry customers lined up on the sidewalk. I was excited to see Mandoline Grill again! They are definitely one of my favorites! Each of of these trucks serves up one-of-a-kind meals with prices that'll make your stomach AND wallet smile. Follow them all on Twitter to know where they'll be next.

Shout out to Greg and Andrew at Mishka. These guys are always holding it down. It's always good chilling with them. If you missed Lunch Truck Day this time around, come out to the next one. Your stomach will thank you.

Don't mess with Eric (Lomo Arigato) or he'll cut you!

Alife make great sneakers!
Coolhaus serves their ice cream sandwiches in an edible wrapper. See, now you can eat paper and not get in trouble for it!
Greg(far left) and Andrew(middle) finding some shade. Andrew enjoying some food from Lomo Arigato.
These dudes are from Virginia. They decided to pack up and fly to Cali just because. These guys are living right!
Look up next time you walk into Mishka in Echo Park.
Andrew approved of this shot.
I forgot the first dude's name(sorry), Greg, and Kevin. Not too sure why he's carrying that bottle of pesticide though.

RONNIE FIEG X CULTURESHOQ X ASICS GEL LYTE III

Ronnie Fieg does it again with these new Cultureshoq Gels. His sense of design, materials, and of course models never fails to impress. Amee Enger's natural beauty does an incredible job accenting the sneakers...I think I might have that backwards.

Truth is, I have Mr. Fieg to thank for turning me onto Asics Gel Lyte III's. Since he dropped the Super Reds, I've been hooked (so what if I was a late bloomer to the Gels game). Gel Lyte III's are definitely the most comfortable sneaker I have ever had the pleasure of putting on my feet. The silhouette is timeless. Throw some nubuck and a memorable colorway into the mix, and the end result is a great sneaker!

Although no release date has been announced, I would advise you all to keep up with Ronnie's twitter updates. Don't sleep on these. They will literally sell out within 5 minutes of their release. Trust me.

UPDATE: Release info for the sneaker was announced this morning on Ronnie Fieg's blog. They will be on sale at 10am EST on DavidZ's site. They are limited to 190 pairs for men, 24 for women, and are priced at $105.

WHERE IS DUMA?: NYC TOUR 2010 (PART 1)

This was my first time visiting New York. I don't think "excited" can even begin to describe how I felt when I got my ticket. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, but the bottom line is, NY exceeded all my expectations. NYC is without a doubt the greatest city I've ever been to. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked. This could be due to my camera acting up most of the time I was there...or I was just too busy living.

The flight was pretty smooth. I tried getting some reading done, but I was distracted by my lack of sleep and this Real Madrid - Getafe game, courtesy of Jetblue's personal Directv monitors.

To celebrate my first day in NY, my cousin and her roommate took me to their favorite neighborhood restaurant, Roberta's Pizza in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My first taste of NY pizza was not disappointing. I know the pizza I ordered looks way too healthy, but it tasted great!

My second night in NY was spent in the Lower East Side, at the Staple Design x Oakley 35th Anniversary release party at Reed Space. Ever since I got really into street culture, I've respected and admired everything Jeff Staple and his team have done. Staple's collaboration with Oakley is a great example of design brilliance and their ability to constantly produce quality products. Check Freshness Mag's full recap of the event.

Reed Space was PACKED and it was about 150 degrees inside. No joke.

While making my way out the door for some fresh air, I got a chance to meet and talk with the man himself, Jeff Staple.

Everybody loves free beer! Too bad I don't drink.

Oh, and I thought it couldn't get any better! One of my all-time favorite producers was DJ for the night. Just Blaze!

ETRNLST 2010

It has definitely been a long time coming, but I am proud to announce the release of my first run of shirts with ETRNLST. Watching this project grow from an idea to what it has become today has been a new and humbling experience. I understand there are many obstacles lying ahead, but I'm excited and ready to keep pushing.

The OG logo tee's will be available starting this Saturday at Daily Duels 6 at The Bakery in Pomona. Shirts are $15 and they come in men and women sizes. Size and color quantities are limited. If you are interested in picking up a shirt, send me an email with the size and color you want, and we'll go from there.

RANSOM BY ADIDAS

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first time these two have worked together. Either way, what they came up with is great. I know this commercial came out a while ago, but I just wanted to share how cool it is! I love the visuals, music, and well, the shoes are clean! Definitely would not mind having a pair...or three.

MISTER CARTOON X TRUE COLORS WORLD CUP 2010

Mister Cartoon is more than a street art icon, he's a living legend. He's been representing our home, Southern California, longer than I have been alive. I believe he is an honest and positive representation of Southern Cali street culture, which is too often given a negative connotation. Now that he is teaming up with Nike Sportswear, again, this time for the World Cup, is amazing. Not only will he be representing Southern California, but the whole United States. He's a truly inspiring individual.

Since my country (EGYPT) didn't make it to the 2010 World Cup, I don't know who I'm cheering for. We'll see.

THE HUNDREDS X SUPERMAX

Another new collaboration for 2010. Los Angeles based brand The Hundreds have teamed up with classic streetwear brand Supermax, releasing a collection graphic shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets in limited quantities at both THLA and THSF locations. At first I didn't know how I felt about this collaboration, but now I see that this is a great opportunity for Supermax to get the recognition they deserve. Without Supermax, Los Angeles and California culture wouldn't be what it is today. We owe it to these cats for laying it down for us. Much love and respect.

ALL GONE X STUSSY X CLAE LOS ANGELES OFFICIAL BOOK LAUNCH

My team and I are going to be competing at a regional slam on Saturday and I'm playing a show with LT that night too, so I won't be able to go. If you're free, you should hit up Stussy on La Brea. Maybe you can pick up a copy of All Gone for me.

SPARE PAINT

Been real busy with midterms and projects lately, so I'm just gonna post a couple videos from Upper Playground featuring two artists helping two men who are in a bad situation. As a side note, these two videos also inspired a new project I'm gonna be working on with one of my good friends. More info on that coming soon.
